Strijp-S heeft de laatste 20 jaar een bijzondere transformatie ondergaan. Het was een zwaar beveiligde industriële zone van Philips. Toen, in de jaren 90, Philips besloot te verhuizen naar elders bleven vele duizenden vierkante meters ruimte leeg staan. Gaandeweg is door intensieve samenwerking dit gebied omgetoverd tot een weergave van Brainport TDK, woonintegratie en recreatie.

The vivaldi garden is a long desired citizen initiative of Ben Nas. Ben has always been socially active in the field of green, food, etc. He wanted to have a public garden as a meeting and engagement place for the neighbors.

When the cellar for bikes was dug they found the old remains of the medieval city gate. These can be seen now inside. There is also a large photo exhibition about the history of Eindhoven.

The beautiful area is ideal for recreation and sport. Originally it was agricultural use but also suggestion that turf was dug here, because of the name `klot` (turf). In the 60s they created this water area to avoid the clotting of the river Dommel. It also served to collect heavy metal waste during the times of polluting industries. Now it is a protected and beuatiful landscape full of birds and animals.

In this Philips de Jongh walking park a lot is happening. Picknicks, walking people, jogging, tai chi, yoga, coaching sessions, tree hugging or just enjoying a drink on the terras. It is all possible as long as it is healthy.

Active local neighbors took this small building to make it into a community center for 't Ven.One of the points of attention in this area of town is the impact of the industrial area De Hurk on the wellness of the people. Air pollution, smells, etc are something they want to see addressed.

One of the few remains of the old train connection with Belgium. The line served to bring coal from the mines in Liege to the industrial activities in Eindhoven. The line was cancelled and removed in 1959. Now it is a popular biking route .

This beautiful middle age water mill is locatie along the small Dommel river. The mill has been eternalized by Vicent van Gogh. It is still being used. Also a nice location for a picknick or to spot the Kingfisher.
